Remove fake accounts using your name or photos
A stranger is using your face or name on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok or a dating app such as Coffee Meets Bagel, Bumble or Hinge? NetClearer files impersonation reports with each platform, with proof of identity, chases them and looks for copycat profiles. Send the links or screenshots for a free assessment: S$42 per profile, no extra fees.

Why fake profiles matter in Singapore
Fake accounts are rarely harmless. Many are built to scam: the Singapore Police Force recorded 37,308 scam cases and S$913.1 million lost in 2025, and scams often start with a profile that looks trustworthy because it uses a real person’s photos. Others harass, damage a reputation or lure people into sextortion. In September 2026 the police warned of cases that begin on dating apps, move to a messaging app and end with threats after an explicit video call: at least 52 reports and S$134,000 lost since August.
If your photos are behind such a profile, the people deceived may contact you, or blame you. The sooner the account goes, the fewer people it reaches.
Types of fake accounts we deal with
- Copied profiles: your photos, name and bio duplicated to message your contacts, ask for money or sell fake goods.
- Scam personas: your face used for investment, job or romance scams, often on several platforms at once.
- Dating profiles: your pictures on Tinder, Coffee Meets Bagel, Bumble, Hinge or OkCupid under another name.
- Harassment accounts: profiles in your name that post things you never said, or mock you.
- Business impersonation: a fake page or shop copying your company’s name and logo to take orders or payments.
Platforms where we remove fake accounts
Each platform has its own impersonation route, and most fake profiles exist on more than one. Detailed guides: fake Facebook profiles, Instagram impersonation, TikTok accounts, X (Twitter) accounts, fake Tinder profiles, fake Coffee Meets Bagel profiles, LinkedIn impersonation and fake recruiters and Telegram channels. On Telegram, impersonation of a person or brand is reported to the official @NoToScam account, and public channels through abuse@telegram.org; Telegram does not act on private groups.
Coffee Meets Bagel, Bumble and Hinge are covered together on our Coffee Meets Bagel page. Their profiles have no public web address, so the report is made from inside the app or through the help centre, with screenshots of the fake profile’s name, age, bio and every photo.
How we take a fake account down
- Free assessment, reply within 24 hours. Send the profile links or screenshots through the contact form (Messenger also works). For dating apps, screenshots are what we need.
- Proof of identity. Platforms want to know the real person is asking. We pair a masked ID with your genuine profiles and the dates they were created; nothing about you is published, and we never need your passwords.
- Reports on each platform. We file through the right route: in-app reports, forms for people without an account, business forms for brand impersonation. Action starts within 48 hours of payment.
- Follow-up. The commonest failure is a first report rejected because the name was slightly changed. We file the second report with side-by-side photos, and search for duplicates opened after the first account goes.
- Google results. If the fake account was indexed, we request removal of the result once the account is gone.
What the law and the authorities can do
The Online Safety (Relief and Accountability) Act 2025 lists online impersonation and inauthentic material abuse as harms, but they belong to a later phase that is not in force. Impersonation alone is therefore outside the Online Safety Commission (OSC) for now. If the fake account also harasses or stalks you, publishes your identity information or shares intimate images, report it to the OSC: it is free and open to citizens, PRs and holders of a valid pass, including Work Permit, EP, S Pass and Dependant’s Pass holders. Companies cannot report in their own name.
When the account is used to defraud people, lodge a police report online and report to ScamShield (helpline 1799). Under the Online Criminal Harms Act the government, not private persons, can direct platforms to disable scam-linked content. A fake profile used to alarm or harass you can fall under the Protection from Harassment Act, and a protection order can be sought at the Protection from Harassment Court. If intimate images are involved, see intimate image removal. We are not a law firm and give no legal advice.
If you were sextorted after meeting a profile
If a match pushed you onto a video call and now threatens to share a recording, do not pay and stop replying. Keep the chat and account names and report to the police (999 in an emergency). Threatening to distribute an intimate image is an offence under Penal Code s 377BE, and under s 377BE(6) the prosecution need not prove the image exists. Read our page on sextortion help; we work on the profiles and on any copy that appears online.
Prices for fake account removal
Each fake profile counts as one link: S$42, with action started within 48 hours. Clusters of copies on several apps suit a pack: 3 links S$99, 10 links S$286 within 24 hours with a removal report, 20 links S$501 with monitoring for new copies. Monthly plans from S$113 keep watching for new impersonators. Fixed prices, no extra fees, secure card payment via Stripe. Full list on the pricing page.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to have an account on the platform?
Not always. Facebook and Instagram, for example, have impersonation forms for people who do not use the service. Dating apps usually expect reports from inside the app or through their help centre, which we prepare for you with screenshots of the profile.
Why did the platform say the account does not break its rules?
A first review can miss impersonation, especially when the name is slightly changed. A second report with clear proof of identity and side-by-side photos often leads to a different decision. We file that escalation and keep the evidence in case the account comes back.
Can the OSC remove a fake account using my photos?
Online impersonation is in the Act but not yet in force, so on its own it is not covered. If the account also harasses you, stalks you, shares your identity information or posts intimate images, the OSC can act, and you should report it there; Work Permit and other valid pass holders are eligible too.
Someone copied my business page. Can you help?
Yes. A company cannot report to the OSC in its own name, so we use the platforms’ business and trademark routes, with your ACRA registration and trademark if you have one. We also look for fake shops on marketplaces that reuse the name; see online sellers.
Will the fake account owner know who reported it?
Platforms generally do not reveal who reported an account; the owner only sees that the profile was removed. If you plan legal action, we keep the dated evidence so you can hand it to a lawyer or the police.
