Remove your phone number from Google in Singapore

If searching your name or your number brings up pages showing your mobile, NetClearer asks each site to delete it and asks Google to stop showing those results. We cover forums, listings, directories and scam-warning posts. The assessment is free and confidential; removal is S$42 per link, fixed price, no extra fees.

Why a public mobile number is a problem in Singapore

Here your mobile number is tied to almost everything: WhatsApp, Telegram, PayNow, delivery apps and many logins. Once it sits on a public page next to your name, anyone can message you, add you to groups or pose as someone you trust.

The Singapore Police Force recorded 37,308 scam cases and S$913.1 million lost in 2025, with social media and messaging apps the main ways scammers reached victims. A number that is easy to find makes you an easier target, and a number posted with insults invites calls from strangers.

Where phone numbers usually leak

  • Old marketplace listings on Carousell or Facebook Marketplace where you added your number to arrange a meet-up
  • Scam-warning posts in Facebook groups, Telegram channels or on Reddit that accuse a seller and print the number, sometimes the wrong one
  • Forum threads on HardwareZone where an argument escalates into posting contact details
  • Directories that copied your number from a past tuition ad, freelance profile or home-based business page
  • Chat screenshots shared on social media with the number visible at the top

Each source has its own route. On a marketplace the listing owner can delete it; a forum needs a moderator; a directory needs a request to its operator; a social network has a private-information report. Filing under the wrong one is the commonest reason a request is closed.

Google’s form for contact details

Google’s personal information removal form covers phone numbers, home addresses and personal emails. Each request needs the URL of the page, the URL of the search results where it appears, and a screenshot showing the number. Google’s self-service “Results about you” tool is being rolled out only in certain markets and is not confirmed for Singapore, so we use the standard form.

Removal from Google hides the result; the page stays online until the website deletes the number. Google may refuse when the number belongs to a business that advertises it, or when the page is news in the public interest. We tell you during the assessment if this is likely.

Our method for removing a phone number

  1. Free assessment. Send your number and the pages you found through our contact form. Within 24 hours we tell you which pages can go, by which route, and the fixed price.
  2. Delete at the source. We contact moderators, site owners and platforms with the right report: private information, harassment or false accusation, depending on the post.
  3. Clear search results. One Google request per URL, then a refresh request for each page that has been edited, so the old snippet with your number disappears.
  4. Check and report. We verify each result and tell you what was removed and what remains. Action starts within 48 hours for one link.

When the number was published by an organisation

If a business, school, condo management or club put your number online, the PDPA 2012 applies. You can withdraw consent under s 16 by writing to its Data Protection Officer; if there is no reply within 10 business days, you can file a complaint with the PDPC through Singpass. The PDPA does not cover a private person posting in a personal capacity (s 4(1)(a)).

If your number was posted to harass you, or alongside your address and other details, it can be doxxing under POHA s 3(1)(c), and you can report it free to the Online Safety Commission if you are a citizen, PR or valid pass holder. See doxxing removal and the overview of personal information removal.

If your number is being used in a scam

Sometimes a scammer uses your number or name. Call the ScamShield Helpline on 1799 for advice and lodge a police report online through the police e-services. We can then remove public posts that wrongly accuse you, and impostor profiles fall under fake account removal. NetClearer is not a law firm and gives no legal advice.

Frequently asked questions

Can I file the Google request myself?

Yes, the form is free and for one or two results it may be enough. It only hides results on Google, though. We also get the number deleted from the source pages, handle sites that ignore requests and look for other copies, which is where most of the work lies.

Can you remove my number from WhatsApp or Telegram groups?

Not from private chats: Telegram states it does not process requests about private groups, and nobody outside a group can delete its messages. Public Telegram channels are different, and we report posts there to abuse@telegram.org with the exact links.

Is it faster to change my number?

Changing your number stops the calls but not the page that links your old number to your name, and the number may later be reassigned to someone else. Removing the posts protects your name; changing the number protects your phone. Doing both gives the most protection.

What does it cost to remove a number from several sites?

Each page is one link at S$42, or less in packs: three links for S$99, ten for S$286 with action within 24 hours. The Google request for the same page is included. The assessment tells you how many links there are before you pay anything.

Tell us what’s happening. We’ll take it from here.

Free, confidential assessment. Send the links through the form: we reply within 24 hours with the route and the fixed S$ price.
