Remove a YouTube video or channel that targets you
A YouTube video shows your face without consent, reads out your personal details, accuses you of something untrue, or a channel poses as you? NetClearer chooses the right complaint (privacy, harassment, impersonation or legal), adds timestamps and proof, chases the decision and cleans the Google video results. S$42 per link, no extra fees, free assessment first.

Why YouTube matters for your name in Singapore
YouTube is the second most visited website in Singapore after Google, with about 240.9 million visits in August 2026 (Semrush), and its advertising audience covers 5.33 million people (DataReportal Digital 2026). In MDDI’s October 2025 survey, 46% of residents who met harmful content online saw it on YouTube, second only to Facebook.
Google Search also shows YouTube results with a thumbnail of your face, so a clip with your name in the title can rank for years.
Videos and channels we deal with
- Filmed without consent: a dashcam, MRT or neighbour-dispute clip where your face, car plate or voice identifies you.
- Personal information on screen: a video or its description showing your address, phone number, NRIC or workplace. Deliberate exposure is doxxing: see doxxing removal.
- Harassment and commentary channels making video after video about one private person.
- Untrue accusations of scams, affairs or crimes presented as fact.
- Impersonating channels copying your name, photo and banner, sometimes for fake giveaways.
- AI-altered face or voice: your face or a synthetic voice in content you never made. Sexual deepfakes: see deepfake removal.
- Re-uploads and Shorts: the same clip cut into Shorts, compilations and reaction videos.
YouTube’s report routes, and why requests fail
YouTube has several separate processes, and a request sent through the wrong one is closed without looking at the merits.
- Privacy complaint. For a video in which you are uniquely identifiable: a first name or a fleeting image is not enough. YouTube asks for timestamps of every moment you appear and what distinguishes you on screen. It may first give the uploader 48 hours to trim, blur or delete before its own team reviews the complaint. The same process covers content where AI was used to alter or generate your face or voice without permission.
- Community Guidelines flags. Harassment, threats and the release of private information are reported on the video, the Short, the comment or the channel itself.
- Impersonation form. A channel copying your identity goes through YouTube’s dedicated impersonation report, with proof that you are the real person.
- Legal removal requests. Defamation and other legal claims use YouTube’s legal webform; YouTube looks at local law and usually expects a precise explanation of each false statement.
The commonest refusals in Singapore cases come from missing timestamps, a complaint filed by a friend rather than the person shown (YouTube expects the person concerned, a parent for a minor, or a legal representative), and opinion presented as an accusation. We fix those before filing.
Online Safety Commission first where it fits
YouTube is one of six prescribed platforms under the Online Safety (Relief and Accountability) Act 2025 and one of the services designated under IMDA’s Code of Practice for Online Safety. It must act on online harm notices within set deadlines: 24 hours for intimate images (6 hours where intimate parts are exposed), 48 hours for other covered harms. If a video doxxes you or shows intimate images, report it free at report.osc.gov.sg. For harassment or stalking, report to YouTube first and keep the confirmation: the OSC can step in if YouTube does not respond adequately within 24 hours. Citizens, PRs and valid pass holders, including Work Permit, EP and Dependant’s Pass holders, are eligible.
NetClearer handles what falls outside it: impersonating channels and reputation harm (later-phase harms with no start date), businesses, re-uploads on other channels, Google video results,. For false statements of fact, the Protection from Harassment Court can order a correction under POHA. We are not a law firm and give no legal advice.
Steps and price
- Send the video or channel links confidentially through the contact form (Messenger also works). Say roughly where you appear; we note the exact timestamps.
- Free assessment within 24 hours. We tell you which route fits each link, whether the OSC is the better first step, and the fixed price. You pay by card via Stripe only if you go ahead.
- Complaints filed within 48 hours for one link (S$42), 36 hours for three (S$99), 24 hours for ten (S$286, with a removal report).
- Follow-up, copies and Google. We track the uploader’s 48-hour window, re-file refusals with better evidence, report Shorts and re-uploads, then ask Google to drop the dead video result.
Monitoring for re-uploads comes with the 20-link pack (S$501) or monthly plans from S$113. Fixed prices, no extra fees. We promise actions and timelines, not YouTube’s decision, and we never contact your employer or family. See pricing and all platforms we cover.
Frequently asked questions
The video was filmed in a public place. Can it still be removed?
Often, yes. YouTube’s privacy process asks whether you are uniquely identifiable, not where the filming happened. A clip that names you, focuses on you or invites viewers to track you down is a much stronger case than a crowd scene.
Will the uploader know I complained?
YouTube tells the uploader there is a potential privacy violation and may give them 48 hours to edit or delete the video. We write the complaint so that it reveals no more about you than the video already does.
Someone made a channel with my name and photo. What helps most?
An impersonation report with clear proof that you are the real person: links to your genuine accounts, the dates they were created, and side-by-side screenshots. If the channel is used to scam, also lodge a police report and call the ScamShield Helpline on 1799, so there is a record that it is not you.
The video is gone but Google still shows it. Why?
Google keeps the old title and thumbnail until it recrawls the page. Once the video is removed or made private, we use Google’s outdated content tool to request a refresh, and check copies on other sites; see removing links from Google.
