Remove fake or abusive Yelp reviews for Singapore businesses

Yelp removes reviews that break its Content Guidelines: posts by competitors or anyone with a conflict of interest, accounts of an experience the author never had, threats, hate speech and private details. NetClearer documents each case and contacts Yelp directly for your Singapore business, under a signed authorisation. S$29 per review, fixed price, no extra fees.

Why Yelp matters again in Singapore

Yelp is smaller here than Google Maps, but it was one of the platforms named by the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCS) on 30 September 2026. Acting under the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act and the Competition Act 2004, the CCS required 45 businesses and a fake-review provider to stop, remove all their fake reviews, report back and display apologies for six months.

Fake reviews, positive or negative, are treated as misleading, and therefore unfair, practices. If a rival or a former business partner is posting invented reviews about your restaurant, clinic or renovation firm, Yelp’s own rules are the quickest way to get them off, and the evidence can also support a disclosure to the CCS.

Two systems: recommendation software and reports

Yelp filters reviews automatically. Its recommendation software decides which reviews are shown as recommended, based on quality, reliability and the reviewer’s activity. Reviews it does not recommend stay reachable through a link at the bottom of your page but do not count in your rating. Yelp says no employee can override the software, so nobody, including us, can move a review in or out of that section.

Removal is a separate route: a report that a review breaks the Content Guidelines, examined by Yelp’s moderators.

Breaches we report, and why reports fail

  • Conflict of interest: a competitor, a current or former employee, or a business partner reviewing you.
  • No first-hand experience: hearsay, reposted rumours from a Telegram group, or a complaint about a delivery rider rather than your shop.
  • Threats, harassment, hate speech or lewd remarks about staff.
  • Privacy: a staff member’s full name together with a phone number or HDB address.
  • Promotional content pointing to another business.

Reports fail when they challenge an honest opinion or claim a conflict of interest without showing the link. We attach the proof: no matching sale or booking, the reviewer’s ties to a competing outlet, or employment dates. A customer who found your laksa bland or your prices high is giving an opinion; that review stays, and a short public reply is the right answer.

What happens after you contact us

  1. Free assessment. Send the review links through the contact form; Messenger is fine too. We tell you which reviews match a guideline and which do not.
  2. Order. You pay by card through Stripe for the reviews we agreed to take on.
  3. Evidence. Sales records, booking lists or messages showing the reviewer was never a customer, or links between the reviewer and a competitor.
  4. Signed authorisation. We act for the business on a signed authorisation. We never ask for your Yelp for Business login, are never added as a user, and you never have to file the report yourself.
  5. Report and follow-up. We contact Yelp directly with the evidence and track each review until Yelp decides.

What not to do, and price

Do not ask customers for reviews in exchange for a discount: Yelp’s guidelines forbid it, its software tends to filter solicited reviews, and the CCS case shows where incentivised reviews lead. We never post, buy or reward reviews either.

1 review S$29, 3 reviews S$78, 10 reviews S$214. Fixed prices, no extra fees, secure card payment via Stripe; no refunds, so the assessment comes first. We commit to the report and the follow-up; Yelp decides. Send the review links for a free assessment, or see every platform on the fake review removal page, Google reviews for Maps, and all packs on the pricing page.

Frequently asked questions

Can you get a not recommended review moved or a recommended one hidden?

No. Yelp’s recommendation software decides that on its own and Yelp says no one can override it. What we can do is report a review that breaks the Content Guidelines, whichever section it sits in. If Yelp agrees, the review is removed rather than just reclassified.

Will the reviewer know who reported the review?

Reports go to Yelp, not to the reviewer, and we write them as factual, guideline-based requests. We never contact the reviewer, never reply on your behalf and never post anything on your page. Your public replies remain entirely yours.

Is a review from a former employee a conflict of interest?

Yelp lists reviews by current or former employees among conflicts of interest, because they are not describing a customer experience. Proof that the reviewer worked for you, such as a matching name and dates of employment, makes the report much stronger.

Can the Online Safety Commission remove a Yelp review?

No. Reviews about a business are not among the harms it handles, and a company cannot report in its own name. If a review publishes an employee’s phone number or address, that employee, whether a citizen, PR or pass holder, can report doxxing to the Commission free of charge.

Tell us what’s happening. We’ll take it from here.

Free, confidential assessment. Send the links through the form: we reply within 24 hours with the route and the fixed S$ price.
