Remove a Stomp post about you
A reader filmed you and Stomp published it, or a post names you over a dispute settled long ago? NetClearer writes to Stomp’s editors with the documents that support blurring your face, removing your name or taking the post down, then handles reposts and Google results. Send the link for a free assessment: S$42 per link, no extra fees.

How a Stomp post is different from a news report
Stomp is SPH Media’s reader-driven site: members of the public send photos, videos and accounts of incidents, and the editors turn them into short posts. The format favours quick “caught on camera” stories, such as a quarrel on the MRT, a parking dispute at an HDB car park or a neighbour conflict, often with faces and car plates visible.
The person filmed rarely gets to give their side before publication. The post then spreads through Stomp’s social media accounts, gets screenshotted into Telegram channels and Facebook groups, and is picked up on HardwareZone and Reddit. Years later it can still be the first result for your name.
Grounds that editors take seriously
- Mistaken identity: the post or the comments name or tag someone who was not there. Proof: anything showing where you were.
- One-sided account: the contributor left out what happened before or after the clip, and you can document it.
- Outcome since publication: the police took no further action, a complaint was dismissed or the dispute was settled. Proof: the letter or the settlement.
- Private details beyond the story: your plate number, block and unit, workplace or children are identifiable.
- Minor incident, lasting harm: an everyday moment whose damage to your job or family is out of proportion to its news value.
Our process for Stomp
- Free assessment, reply within 24 hours. You send the Stomp link and any copies through the contact form, or by Messenger. We check what the post shows, who is identifiable and which request has a realistic chance.
- Documents. We gather what supports the request: a police reply, a settlement, proof you were elsewhere, or a short, calm account of your side.
- Request to the editors. Stomp’s published contact for feedback is stomp@sph.com.sg. We write there and ask for the smallest change that protects you: blurring, removing your name or plate, adding your response, or unpublishing. Action starts within 48 hours of payment.
- Copies and comments. Reposts in Facebook pages, Telegram channels and forums are reported separately, including comments under Stomp’s own social posts that name you.
- Google. Once the post is edited or deleted, we ask Google to refresh the result and check that image search no longer shows the old picture.
Why Stomp requests fail
- Arguing in the comments or posting a reply video: it revives the story and gives the editors a reason to keep it.
- Asking for deletion of an accurate clip when anonymisation would have been accepted.
- No document: “that is not what happened” without proof rarely changes an editor’s mind.
- Treating only the original: the reposts keep ranking after the Stomp page changes.
Your options under Singapore law
There is no general right to have a post erased in Singapore: the PDPA has no right to erasure, and Google applies its own policies rather than a right to be forgotten. The Online Safety Commission (OSC) says news reports on crimes or court proceedings are not doxxing, but if commenters post your address, phone number or NRIC to target you, report it to the OSC: it is free for citizens, PRs and valid pass holders.
For untrue statements, the Protection from Harassment Act lets you ask the Protection from Harassment Court for a correction order (s 15B) or a stop publication order (s 15A); the simplified filing fee is S$30. The OSC’s power over statements harmful to reputation is not in force yet. We are not a law firm and give no legal advice: our role is a documented request to the editors and the clean-up around the post.
Prices
The Stomp post is one link at S$42, with action started within 48 hours. Most cases also involve a few reposts: the 3-link pack costs S$99, the 10-link pack S$286 with a removal report. Fixed prices, no extra fees, and we never contact your employer or family. See pricing, news article removal and forum posts about you.
Frequently asked questions
Will Stomp delete the post completely?
Sometimes. Depending on the case, the editors may instead blur a face, remove a name or add your response. For most people that is enough, because the post stops being linked to their name. We ask for the outcome that fits your situation and tell you what the editors decide.
The video really shows me losing my temper. Can anything be done?
An accurate clip of a public incident is harder to remove. What often works is anonymisation after some time has passed, or removing personal details such as your plate or workplace. We say this in the assessment, before you pay anything.
Do I have to contact Stomp myself?
No. We handle the contact and the follow-ups. Some people want to add a short statement of their side, and we can include it. You never reply publicly or comment on the post, which would only give it more attention.
What about the copies on Facebook and Telegram?
They are separate links. Facebook copies are reported under Meta’s rules, public Telegram channels through Telegram’s abuse channels, and forum threads under each forum’s terms. Changing the original first makes those reports easier, because the reposts lose their source.
