Remove a fake Tinder profile that uses your photos

A friend matched with “you” on Tinder, but it is not your account? NetClearer reports the fake profile, assembles the proof that the photos are yours, checks other dating apps for the same pictures and watches for new copies. S$42 per profile link, no extra fees, free and confidential assessment first.

Dating apps in Singapore and why fakes matter

About a quarter of Singapore residents have used a dating app; among them, 53% have used Tinder, 42% Coffee Meets Bagel, 34% Bumble and 14% Hinge (YouGov, February 2025). Real photos of real Singaporeans make a fake profile convincing, so they are lifted from Instagram and Facebook.

In September 2026 the police warned of a sextortion wave: at least 52 reports and S$134,000 lost since August, all following one pattern. Contact starts on a dating app, moves to a messaging app, becomes an explicit video call, then turns into threats. A profile with your face can be the opening step of a scam on someone else, and your name ends up attached to it.

Signs your photos are being used

  • Friends or colleagues saw your face under another name, age or job.
  • Strangers message you on Instagram saying they matched with you.
  • A reverse image search of your profile picture returns dating-app or scam-warning pages.
  • Someone says you asked them for money, gift cards or a “crypto opportunity” after a match.

How we get a fake Tinder profile removed

The main reason fake-profile reports stall is evidence: Tinder profiles are only visible inside the app, often to people nearby, so the person impersonated cannot simply send a link. We build the file before reporting.

  1. Evidence pack. Dated screenshots from whoever saw the profile (name, age, distance shown, photos, bio), plus your original posts with their dates, proving the photos are yours.
  2. Two reports, one story. The friend who saw it reports from inside the app; you report through Tinder’s Help Center as the person whose photos are used, which does not need a Tinder account. Tinder may ask for proof of identity, which you send to Tinder directly.
  3. Other apps. We check whether the same photos run on Coffee Meets Bagel, Bumble or Hinge and report there too; see fake account removal.
  4. The source. We remove copies of your photos posted elsewhere and suggest privacy settings that make reuse harder.

Where Singapore rules stand

Tinder is not among the six prescribed platforms under the Online Safety (Relief and Accountability) Act 2025, though it publishes a Singapore Online Safety help page for notices under that Act. Online impersonation is a later-phase harm for the Online Safety Commission, with no start date, so removing a fake profile today depends on Tinder’s own rules.

If the match turns into threats to share an intimate image, that is already an offence under Penal Code s 377BE, and s 377BE(6) means the prosecution need not prove the image exists. Do not pay, stop replying, keep the chat, and report to the police; intimate image abuse can also go straight to the OSC. See sextortion help. NetClearer is not a law firm and does not give legal advice.

Pricing and next step

One profile link is S$42 (action within 48 hours), three are S$99, ten are S$286 with a removal report. If fakes keep reappearing, the 20-link pack (S$501) and monthly plans from S$113 include monitoring. Fixed prices, no extra fees. We promise actions and timelines, not Tinder’s decision, and we never contact your employer or family. Send the screenshots through the contact form for a free assessment; Messenger also works. Frequently asked questions

I am not on Tinder. Can I still get the profile removed?

Yes. Tinder accepts reports from people whose photos are misused even without an account. A friend who saw the profile can also report it in the app. We combine both routes when possible, because two consistent reports with the same evidence are harder to dismiss.

How can I prove the photos are mine?

Original files with their dates, older posts on your own accounts, and a photo of you holding your NRIC or pass card are usually enough. You send ID to the platform directly; we only need the screenshots and links, and we never ask for your passwords.

The fake profile tried to get money from people. Am I liable?

You are the victim of identity misuse, not the scammer. Keep screenshots, lodge a police report online and call the ScamShield Helpline on 1799, so there is a record showing the account is not yours. We are not lawyers; for questions of liability, speak to one.

Will the profile come back?

It can, because scammers reuse photo sets across many accounts and apps. With the larger packs or a monthly plan, new copies are reported as soon as they are spotted, on Tinder and on the other apps where your pictures appear.

Tell us what’s happening. We’ll take it from here.

Free, confidential assessment. Send the links through the form: we reply within 24 hours with the route and the fixed S$ price.
