Remove fake and abusive reviews of your Singapore business

NetClearer reports fake, abusive, off-topic and conflict-of-interest reviews of Singapore businesses directly to Google, Facebook, Tripadvisor, Glassdoor, Carousell and five other platforms, citing the rule each review breaks. You sign one authorisation; we never need your login or a manager role, and you file nothing yourself. Genuine criticism stays. S$29 per review, no extra fees.

Which reviews a platform will take down

Platforms remove a review when it breaks their published policy, never because the business dislikes it. Six kinds of review usually qualify:

  • Fake reviews: no matching visit, order or booking, often a cluster of one-star ratings from new or empty profiles.
  • Conflict of interest: a competitor, a former partner, a dismissed employee or a relative of one of them.
  • Off-topic reviews: reactions to a viral video, a political opinion, or a complaint meant for a company with a similar name.
  • Abuse and harassment: insults, threats, racial or religious slurs, sexual remarks about your staff.
  • Personal data: a staff member’s mobile number, a patient’s or student’s details, an HDB block and unit number.
  • Blackmail: a customer who threatened one star unless you gave a refund, a discount or free services.

A harsh but honest account of a late delivery or a rude reception stays, and we tell you so during the free assessment instead of charging for a report that would fail.

The CCS action of 30 September 2026, and what it means for you

The Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCS) acted under the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act 2003 and the Competition Act 2004 against a fake-review provider and 45 businesses with fake reviews on Google, Facebook, Tripadvisor, Carousell, Yelp and Trustpilot. They must stop, remove all fake reviews, report back to CCS and display apologies for six months. Earlier cases include Lambency Detailing’s ChatGPT-written reviews on Sgcarmart (July 2025).

The lesson for owners: never answer a fake attack with bought praise. Report the fake reviews, with evidence.

Free routes first: OSC, the courts and the platform’s own button

The Online Safety Commission (OSC) is free, but it does not take business reviews: companies cannot report in their own name, and “statements harmful to reputation” is a later-phase harm, with no start date yet.

One exception: a review that posts an employee’s mobile number, address or NRIC details to harass them is doxxing (POHA s 3(1)(c)). The employee can report it free at report.osc.gov.sg if they are a citizen, a PR or a valid pass holder, Work Permit and S Pass included. We handle the platform side in parallel.

For a false statement the platform keeps, the Protection from Harassment Act provides court orders (ss 15A–15E), including a disabling order against an internet intermediary (s 15C); a lawyer can say whether your case fits. Anyone can also press “report” for free. Businesses hire us for what a one-click flag lacks: the exact clause, checkable evidence and follow-through to appeal. This is information, not legal advice.

Grounds each platform accepts, and why reports fail

Removal grounds and common failure reasons per review platform (October 2026)
PlatformGrounds acceptedWhy reports usually fail
GoogleFake engagement, conflict of interest, off-topic, harassment, personal information, profanity, advertisingWrong category chosen (“spam” for a competitor review); only one appeal per review, often wasted
FacebookSpam and fake accounts, harassment, hate speech, content unrelated to the businessCategory does not match the problem, e.g. “false information” for an opinion about the service
TripadvisorNot first-hand, experience over 12 months old, irrelevant, biased, blackmailOwner says “this guest never came” with no booking or POS evidence
GlassdoorGuideline breaches, false information, duplicates by one person, posted by management, wrong companyFlagging a harsh but first-hand review; Glassdoor never removes for negativity
CarousellNo real deal, fake offers, rating extortion, personal information, offensive contentChat deleted, so the threat or the missing deal cannot be shown
TrustpilotNot a genuine experience, personal information, harmful content, promotion, wrong businessFlagging without a ground; a business’s flagging activity is visible on its profile
IndeedPersonal details, irrelevant content, internal company details, conflict of interestReview describes pay or hours, which is first-hand experience
AgodaNo-show guest, spam, wrong property, duplicate, profanity, personal attacksNegative content alone is not a removal reason under Agoda’s rules
Booking.comWrong property, cancelled stay, threats, personal informationComplaint is about service quality, which the guest may review
YelpConflict of interest, threats or hate speech, promotional content, privacy violationsNo evidence of the conflict of interest

How we work for your business

  1. Send the review links through the contact form (Messenger also works). We reply with which reviews have a real ground, which clause applies, and the fixed price.
  2. Sign one authorisation. It allows NetClearer to contact each platform directly on your behalf. No password, no manager or admin role, nothing to file on your side.
  3. We file within 48 hours of your order, each review under the clause it breaks, with evidence: no matching booking or receipt, the dates of a review wave, the link between a reviewer and a competitor.
  4. We follow up and escalate through the platform’s appeal or support channel. You receive the status of each review: removed, pending, or kept with the platform’s reason.

Discreet by design: we never contact the reviewer, your staff or your customers, and never reply in your name.

Businesses we help

  • F&B outlets hit by one-star waves after a TikTok video or an r/singapore thread.
  • Clinics and tuition centres where a review names a patient, a child or a teacher.
  • Renovation firms attacked by rivals or by clients in a payment dispute.
  • Employers with Glassdoor or Indeed reviews naming managers or leaking client data.
  • Online sellers: see help for online sellers.

Prices and limits

S$29 for one review, S$78 for three, S$214 for ten. Fixed price, no extra fees, secure card payment via Stripe. You pay after the free assessment, only for reviews we agree to take on. Details on the pricing page.

We promise actions and timelines, not outcomes: the platform decides. We never post, buy or incentivise reviews, and we are not a law firm. Send the review links for a free assessment.

Frequently asked questions

Can you remove a genuine one-star review?

No. If the reviewer was a real customer describing their own experience, platforms keep the review, and we will not report it. We only take on reviews that break a platform rule. For genuine criticism, a calm public reply that corrects facts usually helps your rating more than any removal attempt.

Do you need access to our Google or Facebook account?

No. You sign an authorisation and we contact the platform directly on your behalf. We never ask for a password, are never added as a manager or Page admin, and you never have to file a report yourself. Your accounts stay entirely under your control, and follow-up and appeals are handled by us.

Is it legal to have reviews removed in Singapore?

Yes, when the review breaks the platform’s rules: reporting is the process platforms themselves provide. What CCS acts against under the CPFTA is the opposite, namely writing, buying or incentivising fake reviews, which we never do and never recommend. Genuine reviews, good or bad, are not our target.

What happens if the platform refuses?

We appeal or escalate where the platform allows it, ideally with new evidence. If the review still stays, you receive the platform’s reason and our honest view of what is left, for example a court order under the Protection from Harassment Act, which a lawyer can advise on.

How long does it take?

We file within 48 hours of your order. Platforms decide on their own timetable: Google says its evaluation typically takes several days, and appeals or escalations can take weeks. We follow every report until a final decision and update you at each step, without you having to chase anyone.

Tell us what’s happening. We’ll take it from here.
