Remove a YouTube video or comment about you
A YouTube video, Short or comment shows your face, your IC number or a false accusation? NetClearer reports it under the YouTube rule that fits (privacy, harassment, impersonation or legal), holds the platform to its Online Safety Act deadlines, then asks Google to drop the result. RM133 per link, fixed price, no extra fees; work starts within 48 hours.

The free routes, and where they stop
MCMC treats YouTube as one of the large platforms deemed registered under the Online Safety Act 2025 since 1 January 2026. If you flag a video in the app as harmful content, YouTube has 1 hour to acknowledge your report and 12 hours to give a first assessment; content it confirms as harmful under the Act must be made inaccessible within hours (4 hours for most categories). You can also file a complaint at aduan.mcmc.gov.my, report threats at a police station, and call NSRC 997 within 24 hours if a fake video tricked you into transferring money.
These routes are free and worth using. Their limit is scope: the Act covers nine categories of harmful content, such as harassment, obscene material and financial fraud. A video that is simply misleading, an old clip of a minor incident, or a re-upload on another site often falls outside it. Google results showing the video are not covered either.
Which YouTube rule fits your case
A report filed under the wrong rule is easily rejected. YouTube runs several separate processes, and each asks for different proof:
- Privacy complaint. For videos where you are uniquely identifiable: your face with your name, your voice, your IC number, your home address in a taman or jalan. The complaint must come from you (or a parent, guardian or legal representative). YouTube weighs consent, public interest and newsworthiness, and may first give the uploader time to trim or blur the video. Switching the video to private is not accepted as a fix.
- Harassment and cyberbullying. For videos made to humiliate or target you, or that push viewers to pile on in the comments.
- Impersonation. For channels that use your name, photo or brand to pass as you.
- Legal removal. For defamation and other claims under local law, through Google’s legal removal form. YouTube reviews the claim; it is not a court order.
- Fraud. Scam videos and ads that use your face to sell an investment. Financial fraud is priority harmful content under the Online Safety Act, so the platform must act on it immediately.
What Malaysians usually ask us to remove from YouTube
- Commentary and gossip channels, in English or Bahasa Melayu, that re-cut a viral TikTok or Facebook clip and add your full name
- Shorts reposting a road incident or shop argument with your face and car number plate
- Re-uploads of a news segment years after the case was closed
- Fake investment videos using a doctor’s, lawyer’s or business owner’s face
- Comment threads listing a seller’s IC number, phone number or address: see doxxing removal
How we handle a YouTube link
- Free assessment. Send the links through the contact form or Messenger. We tell you which rule applies, what YouTube is likely to accept, and the price, before you pay.
- The report. We prepare it with timestamps, the exact words or images at issue and proof of identity where YouTube asks for it. You never give us your Google password.
- Follow-up. We track the 1-hour and 12-hour deadlines. If YouTube does not act, any user may report harmful content to MCMC under section 24 of the Act, so we file that complaint ourselves.
- Google and copies. Once the video is gone, we ask Google to refresh the outdated result and look for the same clip on Facebook, TikTok and other video sites.
What we cannot promise
YouTube decides, not us. Honest criticism, reporting by news outlets and videos about public figures acting in public are often kept. We tell you that during the free assessment rather than after payment. If the case needs a letter of demand or a court order, we say so: we are not a law firm and give no legal advice. Frequently asked questions
Will the YouTuber know who asked for the removal?
For a privacy complaint, YouTube may notify the uploader so they can edit the video. We never contact the channel ourselves and never name our client. If anonymity matters most to you, say so during the free assessment and we choose the route with that in mind.
The video is in Bahasa Melayu. Is that a problem?
No. We report BM, English and Chinese videos, with the relevant passages quoted and translated in the report so the reviewer understands exactly what is said about you and at which timestamp.
How long does YouTube take?
We start within 48 hours of your order. Under the Online Safety Act YouTube must acknowledge a report within 1 hour and assess it within 12 hours. Privacy complaints can take longer when the uploader is given time to edit.
What if the channel uploads the video again?
Re-uploads are common with gossip channels. The 20-link pack and the monthly plans include monitoring for new copies, and we report each new upload with the earlier decision as evidence that the content already broke YouTube’s rules.
