Remove a Reddit post or comment about you

A Reddit thread names you, posts your details or shares images of you without consent, and it shows up on Google? NetClearer reports each post to the subreddit moderators and to Reddit under its sitewide rules, handles copies, then updates Google. From RM133 per link, fixed price, work starts within 48 hours.

Reddit is growing fast in Malaysia

DataReportal’s Digital 2026 report counts 4.3 million Reddit users in Malaysia, up more than 200% in a year. r/malaysia is one of the busiest Malaysian communities online, alongside personal-finance, city and university subreddits. Reddit threads also rank prominently on Google, so a post about you can surface for your name even for people who never use Reddit.

Typical problems: a “do you know this guy” post with a photo, an employer or landlord named in a rant with identifying details, screenshots of private chats, and in the worst cases intimate images shared without consent or AI-made images in NSFW communities.

Two layers of rules: moderators and Reddit

Each subreddit is run by volunteer moderators who enforce their community’s rules and can remove posts and comments. Above them, Reddit’s own staff enforce the sitewide Reddit Rules for every community. Two of them matter most here:

  • Remember the human (Rule 1): no harassment, bullying or threats of violence
  • Respect the privacy of others (Rule 3): no revealing someone’s personal or confidential information, and no sharing or threatening to share intimate or sexually explicit media of someone without consent
  • Impersonating a person is also against the rules, which matters when an account uses your name or photos

Moderators can act within hours or ignore a message; Reddit’s staff apply the sitewide rules more consistently but more slowly. We use both, in that order or in parallel depending on how serious the content is.

How we get a Reddit post removed

  1. Evidence. Links to the post and each comment, the subreddit, usernames and dates, captured before anything is deleted.
  2. Modmail to the subreddit moderators, citing their community rules and Reddit Rule 3 where personal details are posted.
  3. Report to Reddit through the report function and Reddit’s web report form at reddit.com/report, choosing the right category: harassment, personal information, non-consensual intimate media or impersonation.
  4. Copies. Reddit threads are copied by mirror and scraper sites; each copy is handled with its owner or host.
  5. Google. Once the post is removed, the result can keep its old title for a while; we ask Google to refresh it, and file personal-information or intimate-image requests where Google’s own policies apply.

Where Malaysian law fits

Reddit is not one of the platforms MCMC has named as licensed under the Online Safety Act 2025, so the 1-hour acknowledgement and 12-hour assessment deadlines do not bind it. Section 24 of the Act still lets any user report harmful content to MCMC, including on unlicensed sites, and we can file that report for you.

If a post publishes your identity information to cause distress, that may be doxxing under section 507E of the Penal Code; a police report is made in person at a police station, and we prepare the evidence pack. For intimate images, see intimate image removal first. We are not a law firm and give no legal advice.

What we will not do

We do not comment in the thread, brigade it with reports, create accounts or message the poster, and we never ask for your Reddit password. If you posted in the thread yourself, deleting your own comments from your account is your choice; we tell you whether it helps. For Lowyat and Cari threads, see forum post removal; other sites are listed under all platforms.

Price

RM133 per link, fixed price, no extra fees: one post, one comment chain or one copy elsewhere each counts as a link. 3 links RM316, 10 links RM912. Work starts within 48 hours. See all prices.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a Reddit account?

No. You do not need to log in or give us any password. We contact moderators and Reddit from our side, as your representative, with the evidence attached. If you have an account and posted in the thread, editing your own replies stays in your hands.

Will the poster know I reported them?

Reddit does not tell the person who posted which user reported them, and modmail goes to moderators only. We never contact the poster and never post publicly about your case, so there is nothing for the thread to react to.

The poster deleted it, but it still appears on Google. Why?

Google keeps the old title and snippet until it crawls the page again, and mirror sites may have copied the thread. We ask Google to refresh the result through its outdated content tool and request removal of the copies, each counted as a link.

What if the moderators side with the poster?

Subreddit moderators only apply their community’s rules. Reddit’s sitewide rules on privacy, harassment and intimate media apply above them, so we report directly to Reddit when moderators do not act. We tell you honestly if a post breaks no rule at all.

Tell us what’s happening. We’ll take it from here.

Free, confidential assessment. Send the links through the form: we reply within 24 hours with the route and the fixed RM price.
