Remove a viral post or video that names you
A video or post about you has gone tular on TikTok or Facebook, with your face, name or workplace? NetClearer reports the original and every repost under the platform rules and the Online Safety Act, then works on Google results. Work starts within 48 hours, from RM133 per link, fixed price, no extra fees.

The first hours matter most
- Do not reply in the comments or post a response video yet. Every comment pushes the content to more people, and anything you write can be screenshotted.
- Save the evidence: the link of each post, screenshots showing the account name, the date and the number of views or shares.
- Ask friends not to share it, even to defend you. Shares, duets and stitches all create new copies to remove.
- If the post gives your address, IC number or a threat, make a report at a police station: publishing identity information to cause distress is an offence under section 507E of the Penal Code since July 2025.
- If it is weighing on you, Befrienders Kuala Lumpur listens 24 hours a day on 03-7627 2929.
How a tular post spreads in Malaysia
The pattern repeats itself. A dashcam clip of an argument, a video filmed at a shop counter, or an “awas” warning post about a seller is posted on TikTok or in a Facebook group. Within hours, viral and confession pages repost it, users stitch it with their own commentary, residents’ groups for the taman share it, and a Bahasa Melayu portal writes it up citing “netizens”. Google then indexes the videos and articles under your name.
Removing only the first post is rarely enough. The work is to map every copy and treat each one on the ground that fits it.
Using the Online Safety Act clock on TikTok and Facebook
Since 1 January 2026, the Online Safety Act 2025 requires platforms with 8 million or more Malaysian users, which MCMC treats as licensed and which include TikTok and Facebook, to handle user reports on a timetable: acknowledgement within 1 hour, an initial assessment and status within 12 hours, and harmful content made inaccessible within 4 hours once it qualifies. One of the categories of harmful content is content that may cause harassment, distress, fear or alarm.
Two honest limits. Being criticised is not harmful content in itself: the platform assesses each report. And the Act does not reach X, Google, forums or news portals. Section 24 lets any user report harmful content to MCMC, so we can file both the in-app report and the MCMC report for you, and ask for a review within 15 days when a decision is wrong.
Which grounds make a viral post removable
| What the post contains | Ground we use | Where it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Your IC number, home address, phone or workplace details | Privacy and personal-information rules; doxxing | TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Google |
| Threats, insults or a pile-on in comments and reposts | Harassment and bullying rules; Online Safety Act harmful-content report | Licensed platforms, plus MCMC |
| Video of you filmed in a private place without consent | Privacy rules on images of a person | All major platforms |
| A child is identifiable | Child safety rules, handled first | All platforms and Google |
| Your own photos or videos reposted by others | Copyright or impersonation | Platform forms |
| An accusation you say is false | Platforms rarely judge truth: see defamatory posts | Case by case |
How we work on a tular post
- Free assessment. Send us the links through the contact form or Messenger. We tell you which copies can come down, on what ground, and the fixed price.
- Map the copies. We search for reposts, stitches, viral pages, group shares and portal write-ups, including in Bahasa Melayu.
- Report each one correctly. The right category in the app, the platform’s privacy or harassment forms, and the MCMC report where the Act applies. We never ask for your password.
- Google. Once posts are down, we ask Google to refresh or drop the results; pages with your IC number or address go through Google’s personal-information policies.
- Follow-up. We chase every report and check for new uploads; the 20-link pack and monthly plans include monitoring.
What we will not do
We do not post replies, create accounts to bury the story, buy reports or contact the person who filmed you. If the story was picked up by a portal, the article is handled on our news article removal page; threads on Lowyat, Cari or Reddit are covered under forum posts. Private WhatsApp or Telegram chats cannot be cleaned from outside, so we focus on everything public and searchable.
Price
RM133 per link, fixed price, no extra fees; a viral case usually needs a pack: 3 links RM316, 10 links RM912, 20 links RM1,600 with re-upload monitoring. Work starts within 48 hours, faster with larger packs. Compare packs.
Frequently asked questions
How fast can a tular video come down?
We start within 48 hours of your order, and within 24 hours for 10 links or more. On TikTok and Facebook, the Online Safety Act requires an assessment within 12 hours of a report; smaller pages and portals take longer, which is why we chase every link.
Will the person who posted it know I complained?
Platforms do not tell the uploader who reported a post. We never contact the poster, your employer or your family, and we do not comment publicly. Your name only appears where a form legally requires the affected person to be identified, and we tell you before.
The video is real. Can it still be removed?
Sometimes. Truth does not decide everything: a real video can still breach privacy rules, show your address or a child, or attract harassment that platforms must act on. We tell you honestly during the free assessment which copies have a realistic ground and which do not.
What if it keeps being reposted?
Re-uploads are common with viral content. The 20, 50 and 100 link packs and the monthly plans include monitoring for new copies, and each new link is reported on the same ground as the original, citing the earlier decision.
