Remove a fake account using your name or photos
A profile is posing as you, scamming your contacts or running investment ads with your face? NetClearer reports it under the impersonation rules of Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, Telegram and dating apps, follows each case and watches for new copies. From RM133 per account, fixed price, no extra fees; work starts within 48 hours.

The fake accounts Malaysians bring to us
- Clone profiles on Facebook that copy your photos and name, then message your friends for an urgent loan or a parcel fee.
- Scam pages and ads using a doctor’s, lawyer’s or influencer’s face to sell an investment scheme or a miracle product.
- Catfish profiles on Tinder, Bumble, Tantan or Muslim matchmaking apps built from your Instagram pictures.
- Mocking or shaming accounts on TikTok and X that post as you to embarrass you before your colleagues or your kampung.
- Fake business pages that copy your shop’s name and logo to take orders and payments meant for you.
Why some reports work and others are ignored
Every major platform bans impersonation, but each one checks it differently. Meta and Instagram act on reports from the person being impersonated or an authorised representative, and often ask for a photo of an identity document. TikTok’s impersonation form also asks for proof of identity. X lets the person or their representative file through its Help Center, and lets bystanders flag the account from its profile. Dating apps decide from screenshots and profile details.
Reports fail for simple reasons: the wrong category (a “spam” click instead of “pretending to be me”), a profile link copied from a share sheet that no longer resolves, no evidence of which account is the real one, or a parody label that the platform accepts. Fan or parody accounts that say so clearly are usually allowed; accounts that deceive people are not.
Malaysian law and the free routes
Report the profile in the app first: on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok this report falls under the Online Safety Act 2025, which requires these licensed platforms to acknowledge it within one hour and assess it within 12 hours. You can also complain to MCMC at aduan.mcmc.gov.my, which lists impersonation among the online content problems it receives. If friends sent money to the fake account, they should call NSRC 997 at once; if the account threatens you, make a police report at a station.
Two points help in Malaysia. A scam account using your face to sell fake investments is financial fraud, which the Act treats as priority harmful content: licensed platforms must make it inaccessible without waiting. And an account that spreads your IC number or address to get you harassed can fall under the doxxing offence in section 507E of the Penal Code. We use these facts in reports; we are not a law firm and give no legal advice.
How we remove a fake account
- Free assessment. Send us the profile links through the contact form or Messenger. We check which rule each account breaks and tell you the price before you pay.
- Evidence pack. We capture the profile, posts, messages to your contacts and ads, with dates, and link them to your real account or business so the reviewer sees who is genuine.
- Reports. We file the impersonation report on each platform, plus the MCMC complaint when it helps. When a form must come from you, such as an identity check, we tell you exactly what to send and where, so your document goes straight to the platform.
- Follow-up. We answer platform questions, appeal wrong refusals and check that every account and its copies are gone. Larger packs include monitoring for new clones.
Platform guides for fake accounts
Each platform has its own steps. Read our guides for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and X (Twitter), which is not licensed under the Online Safety Act. Clone channels selling fake services are covered on Telegram, and catfish profiles on Tinder and other dating apps. If the account posts fake sexual images of you, go to deepfake removal; if it spreads your address, see doxxing removal.
Dating apps: catfish profiles built from your photos
Dating apps are where stolen photos travel furthest and stay hidden longest, because you cannot see a profile unless the app shows it to you. Friends often find it first and send a screenshot. Tinder accepts reports in the app and, for people without an account, through its help centre contact form; it asks for the name, age, bio and photos shown on the profile. Other apps have similar in-app reports. We file these with your real photos and public profiles as proof, and since the same set of pictures is often reused across several apps and Instagram, we search for the other copies at the same time.
Price and confidentiality
One account or link costs RM133, fixed price, no extra fees, and work starts within 48 hours. A wave of clones is cheaper in a pack: 3 links RM316, 10 links RM912, 20 links RM1,600 with monitoring for re-uploads. Details are on the pricing page. Payment is by card through Stripe.
We never ask for your passwords, never log in as you, and never contact the person behind the account, your family or your employer. Platforms do not tell the account owner who reported it.
Frequently asked questions
Do you need my login or my IC?
We never need your password. Some platforms ask the impersonated person for a photo of an identity document; when that happens, you upload it directly to the platform’s secure form, and we tell you which form and why. We keep only the links and screenshots needed for the report.
How fast are fake accounts removed?
We file within 48 hours of your order. Licensed platforms in Malaysia must acknowledge a report within an hour and assess it within 12 hours; clear impersonation cases are often removed within days. X and dating apps have no Malaysian deadline, so we follow up until they decide.
The account is a parody. Can it still be removed?
It depends on how it is labelled and used. A clearly marked parody that fools nobody is usually allowed. If it uses your photos to deceive, publishes your private details, harasses you or asks your contacts for money, it breaks other rules and we report it on those grounds.
My friends lost money to the fake account. What now?
They should call NSRC 997 straight away, ideally within 24 hours of the transfer, so the receiving account can be frozen. A 997 call counts as a police report. We take care of removing the account and its copies; we cannot recover the money.
What if the fake account comes back under a new name?
Clones often reappear. Our 20, 50 and 100 link packs and monthly plans include monitoring, and we report each new account with the earlier decisions as evidence, which usually speeds up the platform’s review.
