Remove your phone number from Google in Malaysia

Typing your number into Google should not bring up your name, your address or an accusation. NetClearer asks the website to delete your phone number and asks Google to remove the results that still show it, from forum threads, old ads, directories and shaming posts. RM133 per link, fixed price with no extra fees; work starts within 48 hours.

Where Malaysian phone numbers end up online

A mobile number in Malaysia is tied to almost everything: your bank, your e-wallet, your delivery apps and the WhatsApp account your family uses. Once it is public next to your name, you get scam calls, unwanted visitors and, in the worst cases, harassment from people who believe a post about you.

  • Old classified ads for a car, a room or a phone, still indexed years after the sale
  • Forum trading threads on Lowyat or Cari where you posted your number to close a deal
  • Number lookup and caller-ID sites that let anyone label a number as a scammer
  • Facebook groups and Telegram channels sharing a “blacklist” of numbers, sometimes the wrong ones
  • Loan shark posts that list you as a borrower’s reference
  • Business directories that copied your number from an old company listing

What Google will and will not remove

Google’s personal information policy covers contact details such as a phone number, an address or an email, alongside ID numbers and bank details. It also covers doxxing, meaning your details shown with threats or calls to harass you. Google may refuse when the content is newsworthy or published in an official capacity, for example a business line on a company website.

Google also offers a dashboard called Results about you that finds and flags contact details automatically, but it is rolling out only in certain markets and Malaysia has not been among those listed. Requests from Malaysia therefore go through the standard removal form, one URL at a time.

Removal from Google is not removal from the internet. The page stays where it is, reachable by its link or through other search engines. That is why we always try the website first.

The routes we use for each type of page

Where the number isFirst routeIf that fails
Classified ad or marketplace listingReport the listing or ask the site to delete the expired adGoogle removal request for the contact details
Forum threadRequest to the moderators to edit out the numberGoogle removal request; letter to the operator
Caller-ID or lookup siteThe site’s removal or opt-out processGoogle removal; for a business, a PDPA section 42 request
Facebook, TikTok or Telegram postPlatform report under privacy and harassment rules, MCMC complaint where the Online Safety Act appliesGoogle removal request for the remaining copies

The PDPA applies to businesses, not to private individuals, and it gives no right to have data erased. What it does give, in section 42, is a right to ask a company to stop processing that is likely to cause you substantial damage or distress. The company has 21 days to answer. It works against directories and lookup sites; it does not work against a stranger’s Facebook post.

When your number is wrongly called a scam

Recycled numbers and spoofed calls mean innocent people sometimes find their number listed as a scammer’s. If you are being accused on public pages, ask the platform to remove the post as false and harmful, and keep a note from your telco showing when the number became yours. If the posts come with threats or your home address, Penal Code sections 507B to 507F may apply: make a police report at a police station, and see our doxxing removal service.

How we handle it

  1. Send us the search. Tell us the number and paste the links that show it, or the Google search that brings them up. The assessment is free.
  2. We sort the links by route and tell you which are likely to come down at the source, which only from Google, and which will probably stay.
  3. You pay by card through Stripe, and work starts within 48 hours.
  4. We contact the sites and Google, follow up on each request, and send you the status of every link.
  5. We re-check that the number no longer brings up the removed pages.

Price

RM133 per link, RM316 for three, RM912 for ten. Most phone number cases involve between one and five links. Fixed price, no extra fees. Details on the pricing page. If your address or IC number is also exposed, see personal information removal and address removal.

Frequently asked questions

Should I just change my number?

Sometimes that is the fastest relief, especially if scam callers already have it. But your old number stays online next to your name, and a recycled number passes your history to its next owner. Removing the pages deals with the cause; changing the number only deals with the calls.

Can you remove my number from WhatsApp groups?

No. Private chats and groups are not searchable on Google and fall outside the Online Safety Act. We work on public pages and search results. In a group, ask the admin to delete the message, and use WhatsApp’s report and block options for anyone who contacts you.

How long does Google take?

Google answers personal information requests by email and does not commit to a fixed time; simple cases are often quicker than disputed ones. A page that the website itself deletes drops out of results as Google recrawls it, and we can request a refresh to speed that up.

I listed my number myself years ago. Can it still be removed?

Often, yes. Most sites delete old ads and profiles on request, and forum moderators will usually edit out a number from an old post. Where you can still log in, deleting it yourself is free and fastest; we handle the pages you cannot reach.

Tell us what’s happening. We’ll take it from here.

Free, confidential assessment. Send the links through the form: we reply within 24 hours with the route and the fixed RM price.
