Remove Ah Long and loan app shaming posts

When an illegal moneylender (Ah Long) or a loan app posts your photo, IC number or a fake funeral notice to shame you, NetClearer gets those public posts removed from Facebook, TikTok, Telegram, forums and Google. We remove the posts; we do not handle the debt or the calls. RM133 per link, fixed price, work starts within 48 hours.

How loan sharks shame borrowers online

The pressure tactics have moved from red paint on the gate to the phone. Illegal loan apps take the contact list and the photo gallery when they are installed, and Ah Long groups use Facebook pages to reach everyone who knows the borrower. Relatives and friends who never borrowed anything are often the ones who find the posts first.

  • Fake funeral portraits and death notices with the borrower’s photo, shared on Facebook
  • Edited or morphed photos sent to contacts, then posted publicly with insults
  • Wanted-style posters showing the IC, address and employer, in Facebook groups and TikTok videos
  • Posts naming the contacts a borrower listed as references, with their phone numbers
  • Telegram channels that collect borrowers’ details and photos

What the law says about this conduct

  • Moneylenders Act 1951, section 29B: licensed moneylenders and their agents may not go to a borrower’s home or workplace to collect payment or to intimidate. Lending without a licence is itself an offence. KPKT’s i-KrediKom app lets you check whether a lender is licensed and lodge a complaint.
  • Consumer Credit Act 2025, in force since 1 March 2026: it set up the Consumer Credit Commission and brings conduct standards for debt collection, with collection agencies required to register.
  • Penal Code ss.507B to 507F: threatening or insulting posts that cause distress, and publishing someone’s identity information to harass them or make them fear harm, are offences.
  • CMA s.233 covers grossly offensive and menacing content sent over a network.

NetClearer is not a law firm and gives no legal advice. Whether the lender was licensed or not, a shaming post usually breaks the platform’s own rules on harassment, privacy and bullying, and that is the route we use.

Free steps to take now

  • Make a police report at a police station if there are threats, visits to your home or posts naming your family. If someone is at your door, call 999.
  • Complain to KPKT through i-KrediKom, and to MCMC at aduan.mcmc.gov.my for the posts.
  • If you paid a “processing fee” for a loan that never came, that is a fake loan scam: call NSRC 997 as early as possible after the transfer.
  • Report the app on its store page. Google Play’s personal loans policy bars these apps from accessing contacts and photos.
  • Warn your contacts in one short message: tell them not to reply, not to pay, and to report and block.

What we do, and what we do not

We doWe do not

File the MCMC complaint for licensed platformsAnswer or block the calls and messages

Private messages are outside the Online Safety Act and no service can delete them from other people’s phones. Public posts are a different matter: they are what your employer, neighbours and relatives see, and they can be reported.

How we work on a loan shark case

  1. Free assessment. Send the links to the posts, plus screenshots if a post has been shared in groups you cannot open. We do not need your loan documents.
  2. Fixed quote. We count the links, tell you which ones have a realistic route, and give one price in ringgit.
  3. Reports at the source. Facebook and TikTok first, as they carry most of these posts, then Telegram, forums and any site hosting copies.
  4. Google clean-up. We ask Google to drop results that still display your identity details.
  5. Follow-up. Loan sharks repost. Our 20-link pack includes monitoring for re-uploads, and monthly plans start at RM362.

Prices

RM133 for one link, RM316 for three, RM912 for ten with a removal report, RM1,600 for twenty with re-upload monitoring. Fixed price with no extra fees, card payment through Stripe, work starts within 48 hours. See the pricing page, or the wider personal information removal service if your details also appear elsewhere.

Frequently asked questions

Will removing the posts make the harassment worse?

We cannot predict how a lender will react, and we never contact them. Reports go to the platform, which does not tell the poster who complained. Many borrowers decide that leaving a fake funeral notice online does more lasting damage. If you fear for your safety, make the police report first.

Do I have to settle the loan before you can act?

No. A shaming post breaks platform rules whether or not money is owed, and we never ask about the debt. Settling or disputing the loan is a separate matter; a licensed lender’s conduct can be raised with KPKT, and from 2026 the Consumer Credit Commission oversees debt collection standards.

My friend’s photo was used, not mine. Can they use your service?

Yes. Contacts and family members who appear in loan shark posts can ask for removal in their own name, which is often simpler because they are clearly not party to the loan. Send us the links and tell us whose details are shown.

Can you stop the calls and messages?

No. We remove public posts and search results only. For calls and messages, report the numbers to the police and use your phone’s block and spam tools. Keep the messages as evidence rather than deleting them: they support both the police report and our platform reports.

Tell us what’s happening. We’ll take it from here.

Free, confidential assessment. Send the links through the form: we reply within 24 hours with the route and the fixed RM price.
