Remove fake reviews from your Facebook Page
Facebook recommendations that come from fake profiles, insult your staff or are part of a coordinated attack can be reported under Meta’s Community Standards. NetClearer documents each one and files the request for your business, often together with the fake accounts behind it. RM92 per review, no extra fees, without access to your Page.

How Facebook recommendations work
On a business Page, the Reviews tab shows recommendations: people say whether they recommend you and usually add text, photos or tags. Meta applies the same Community Standards to them as to any post. A recommendation is removed when it breaks those rules, not because it is negative or unfair.
Meta’s help centre notes one limit worth knowing: a recommendation with no written text cannot be reported. Those need a different approach, usually through the account that posted it.
What Meta acts on
- Fake or inauthentic accounts: profiles created days before the review, with no friends, stolen photos or a name that changes, often posting the same text on several Pages.
- Spam: identical recommendations pasted across your branches or across shops in the same industry.
- Bullying and harassment: attacks on a named employee, mocking photos of staff, or calls to boycott a person rather than the business.
- Hate speech: insults based on a protected characteristic.
- Private information: a staff member’s phone number, IC number or home address shared without consent.
- Threats: messages warning that your shop or staff will be harmed.
Where Facebook attacks on Malaysian businesses come from
The recommendation on your Page is often only one piece. A customer posts a complaint in a neighbourhood or food group, the post goes viral, and dozens of people who never visited leave a negative recommendation on your Page within an afternoon. In other cases a rival runs a handful of fake profiles that rate several competitors at once.
We treat these as one case. The recommendations go through the review route; the group post that started it is a separate request, covered on our viral post removal page, and fake profiles are handled under fake account removal. For everything else on the platform, see Facebook content removal.
Free routes, and what we add
Anyone can report a recommendation: open Reviews on your Page, click the three dots on the recommendation and choose to report it. Facebook is a large platform under the Online Safety Act 2025, which sets reporting deadlines for harmful content, but recommendations about a business only fall within it when they amount to harmful content such as threats; ordinary rating disputes do not. Threats against your staff should also go to a police station.
What we add: we choose the Community Standard that actually fits, link fake accounts to each other with evidence, report the profiles as well as the recommendations, and keep following each report rather than clicking once and hoping.
How a request runs
- Send the links to the recommendations (or screenshots if links are hard to copy) through the contact form. The assessment is free.
- Sign the authorisation for your business. We never ask for your Facebook login and never need a role on your Page.
- We collect evidence: account creation signs, repeated text, timing, links to the group post or to a competitor.
- We file the reports with Meta for each recommendation and, where relevant, for the accounts behind them.
- We follow up and send you a status for every item: removed, refused with the reason, or pending.

Frequently asked questions
Can I just switch off reviews on my Page?
Page settings let admins manage which tabs show, and some businesses hide reviews during an attack. It also hides your genuine recommendations and does not remove the fake ones. We prefer to remove what breaks the rules and keep your real customers’ words visible.
Will the person who posted it know we reported them?
Meta does not tell the author who reported a recommendation. We never message the reviewer, comment on the post or contact the group admin in your name. The only document showing your business is the authorisation letter, which stays between us and the platform when it asks.
The reviewer is a real customer but used abusive words. Can it go?
Yes, if the wording breaks the bullying, harassment or hate speech rules, such as insults aimed at a named employee. Meta removes the recommendation, not the customer’s right to complain. A firm but polite complaint stays, and we will tell you that before you pay.
How fast can you act on a group pile-on?
We start within 48 hours of payment and file the clearest reports first: threats, personal data and fake accounts. In a pile-on, a pack of 10 is usually the better value. Meta decides the pace, so we keep you informed of each report rather than promising a date.
