Remove a Facebook post or profile about you
A post in a Facebook group names you, a loan shark has put your photo on a “funeral” poster, or a clone profile is messaging your friends? NetClearer reports it to Meta and the group’s admins under the right rule, then removes what Google still shows. From RM133 per link, fixed price, no extra fees; work starts within 48 hours.

Facebook is where most online harm in Malaysia starts
Facebook still reaches about 23 million Malaysian adults, and MCMC figures for 2026 show it carried 53% of the scam content and 78% of the online gambling content the regulator asked platforms to take down (NST, August 2026). For individuals, harm usually starts in community groups, where a post goes viral within hours and is screenshotted for TikTok and BM portals.
- Naming and shaming posts in neighbourhood, buy-and-sell or confession groups, with your face, workplace or car plate.
- Illegal moneylender (Ah Long) posts: fake funeral posters, “wanted” images or messages to your contacts with your photo and address.
- Clone profiles that copy your pictures and ask your friends for money, and scam ads using your face.
- Intimate images shared without consent in groups or through comment links.
- Your IC number, address or phone number posted to invite harassment.
Facebook under the Online Safety Act 2025
Facebook is among the platforms MCMC treats as registered from 1 January 2026 because it has more than eight million Malaysian users. That brings Meta under the Online Safety Act 2025: a report you make in the app must be acknowledged within one hour and assessed within 12 hours, and content judged harmful, such as harassment, obscene material or financial fraud, must be made inaccessible within short deadlines. You can ask Meta to review its decision within 15 days, and complain to MCMC at aduan.mcmc.gov.my whether or not you reported in the app.
The Act covers harmful content, not everything that hurts. A rude but true post about your business, or an old story that is no longer accurate, may not fit its categories. Those cases go through Meta’s own Community Standards, the group admins or Google.
Which Meta route fits your case
| Content on Facebook | Route we use | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Post with your IC number, address or phone | Report for sharing private information; privacy report form in the Meta Help Centre | Doxxing is also an offence under Penal Code s.507E since July 2025 |
| Loan shark poster or messages to your contacts | Harassment and bullying report, plus admins of the group | Make a police report at a station; we prepare the evidence pack |
| Clone profile or page using your photos | Impersonation report; form for people without a Facebook account | Meta may ask the person impersonated for an ID check |
| Intimate image shared without consent | Non-consensual intimate imagery report; StopNCII hash for adults | The image never leaves your device with StopNCII |
| Scam ad using your face | Ad report and impersonation report | Financial fraud is priority harmful content under the Act |
| Defamatory post in a group | Admins first, then Meta’s reporting and legal forms | Under the Evidence Act s.114A, admins and page owners can be presumed to publish what they host |
How we handle a Facebook removal
- Free assessment. Send the post, profile or group links through the contact form or Messenger. Copy the link from the post’s timestamp or “Copy link”, not a screenshot alone, and tell us if the group is private.
- Evidence. We record each post, its shares and comments with dates, because a viral post often lives in five groups at once.
- Reports. We file the in-app report under the matching rule, the Help Centre form where one exists, and the MCMC complaint when it adds weight. We write to group admins factually, never with threats.
- Google and copies. When the post is gone but Google or a portal still shows it, we file the matching request. We then check every link until it is down.
Limits we tell you about upfront
- Messenger chats and private groups cannot be cleaned from outside. We work on what is public, and on members’ reports where a group is private but reachable.
- Screenshots already sent on other apps cannot be recalled; removing the source stops new shares.
Meta decides in the end, and criticism within its rules stays. We tell you before you pay when a post has weak grounds.
Price and discretion
One link costs RM133, fixed price, no extra fees, with work starting within 48 hours. A post shared across many groups is better value in a pack: 3 links RM316, 10 links RM912, 20 links RM1,600 with monitoring for re-uploads (all prices). We never contact your family, employer or the person who posted, and never ask for your Facebook password. Frequently asked questions
Will the person who posted know I reported it?
No. Meta does not reveal who filed a report, and we never contact the poster. Group admins we write to only see a factual request about the post. If a legal form requires your name, we tell you first and you decide.
The post is in a private group I cannot see. Can you act?
Often, yes. A member’s screenshot with the group name and date lets us identify the group and report it through Meta’s forms, and admins can still be contacted. If the content has also spread to public pages or Google, we deal with those copies first.
A loan shark posted my photo. Should I pay to make it stop?
Do not pay or argue with them. Make a police report at a station. We remove the posts, the copies sent around groups and any Google results, and prepare a clean evidence file for your police report.
How long does Meta take to remove a post?
Under the Online Safety Act, Meta must acknowledge a report made in the app within one hour and assess it within 12 hours. Clear cases are often removed within a day or two; disputed ones can take longer. We start within 48 hours and follow each link.
