Remove fake or abusive OpenRice reviews of your restaurant
A negative review from someone who was never seated, a rival’s rating, a post naming your waiter with personal details: NetClearer documents each review against OpenRice’s guidelines and reports it through OpenRice’s restaurant and customer-service channels, under your signed authorisation. HK$176 per review, fixed price, no extra fees.

OpenRice, Hong Kong’s own restaurant guide
OpenRice was founded in Hong Kong and is still the reference before booking a table: it ranks around 36th among the most visited sites in the territory, with about 5.64 million visits in April 2025 (Semrush). A run of negative reviews lowers the score every diner sees before choosing.
Two features matter for owners. OpenRice moderates reviews before publication, so what appears has already passed a first check. And in March 2026 it asked a reviewer to confirm that negative claims were truthful, citing legal risk (unwire.hk, 24 March 2026). OpenRice therefore pays attention to accuracy, which is what a well-documented report relies on.
Which OpenRice reviews we report
- No visit: the date, the dishes or the table described do not match your bookings or your menu that day.
- Rival or insider: written by a competing restaurant, a former employee or someone with a stake in a dispute.
- Wrong outlet: a complaint about another branch or a different restaurant with a similar name.
- Abuse and personal data: insults or accusations against a named staff member, or their mobile number or photo.
- False factual claims: food poisoning, hygiene violations or prices that your records show are untrue.
- Blackmail: a review posted after a demand for a free meal, a refund or money.
A real diner who found the char siu dry or waited forty minutes for a table has written a genuine review. It stays, and we will not report it.
How we report to OpenRice
- Free written assessment. Send the review links; we tell you which have a real ground.
- Authorisation. You sign a letter authorising NetClearer to act for your restaurant. We never use your OpenRice merchant login.
- Evidence. Booking records, POS receipts for the date, CCTV logs if you hold them (we only need your written confirmation, not the footage), the menu on that day, any messages from the reviewer.
- Report. We report through OpenRice’s restaurant and customer-service channels, stating which guideline the review breaks and why. Work starts within 48 hours.
- Follow-up. We answer OpenRice’s questions and report the outcome to you.
When the same complaint appears on Google
Diners increasingly post on Google Maps as well as, or instead of, OpenRice. A fake review often appears on both, sometimes in Chinese on one and English on the other. We handle both in the same assessment: see Google review removal. If the complaint has also spread to a LIHKG thread or a Facebook group, see forum post removal.
What we never do
- Post or buy reviews, or ask staff and friends to add positive ones.
- Contact or pressure the reviewer.
- Remove genuine criticism of your food, service or prices.
Price
HK$176 per review, HK$476 for 3, HK$1,312 for 10, fixed price, no extra fees, paid by card through Stripe. Work starts within 48 hours; OpenRice decides. All platforms are listed on our fake review removal page.
Frequently asked questions
Can a restaurant delete an OpenRice review itself?
No. Only OpenRice can remove a published review. A restaurant can reply, and can report a review it believes breaks the guidelines. A report with booking records and a precise explanation is more likely to be looked at seriously than a simple complaint that the review is unfair.
The review was approved by OpenRice. Is it too late?
No. Pre-publication moderation checks the text, not your bookings. Facts only you hold, such as no reservation under that name or the dish not served that day, can show a review is false. We bring that evidence to OpenRice after publication.
Should I reply to the review publicly?
A short, polite reply that states the facts helps future diners, for example that you have no record of the visit and invite the reviewer to contact you. Avoid accusing the reviewer of being a competitor, which can turn into a second dispute. We do not write replies for you.
