Remove fake LinkedIn profiles and recruiter scams
Someone has copied your LinkedIn profile, a fake “talent partner” recruits in your firm’s name, or a page imitates your company? NetClearer reports each profile, page and job post to LinkedIn under the rule it breaks, with proof from you or your company, and escalates through LinkedIn support if it stays up. HK$255 per link, fixed price, no extra fees.

Why LinkedIn fakes work in Hong Kong
LinkedIn reaches about 4.2 million people in Hong Kong, 56.8% of the population and up 13.5% in a year (DataReportal, Digital 2026). As a regional base for banks, law firms, insurers and trading houses, Hong Kong has many senior titles worth copying, and a profile from a known firm opens doors.
Fraud figures explain the stakes. Hong Kong Police recorded 43,212 deception cases in 2025, about HK$8.1 billion lost, including 4,095 click-farming job scams and 5,135 online investment frauds. A convincing professional profile is often the first step, before the conversation moves to another messaging app.
Fakes we report on LinkedIn
- Cloned profiles using a professional’s name, headshot and career history to connect with colleagues, clients and former classmates.
- Impersonated executives: a fake managing director or head of HR who contacts staff, suppliers or candidates, sometimes asking for payments or documents.
- Fake recruiters claiming to hire for your firm, then asking candidates for HKID copies, bank details or a “training fee”.
- Copied company pages with your logo or a near-identical name, used to post fake vacancies or investment offers.
- Fraudulent job posts that bring angry messages from victims to your real HR team.
LinkedIn’s reporting routes
Any member can report a profile from its More menu by choosing Report, then indicating that the person is impersonating someone or that the account is not a real person. Company pages and job posts have their own Report option. If a reported profile remains online after a few days, LinkedIn’s Help Center allows a support ticket with more evidence, and a trademark form exists when a page misuses a registered brand.
LinkedIn usually asks for proof linking the complainant to the identity being copied: the real profile, a company email address, or a letter on company letterhead. For a company, we act on a signed authorisation from someone entitled to give it.
If money or data has already been lost
Victims who sent money or identity documents should call the Anti-Scam Helpline 18222 at once and report to the police, either at a station or through the e-Report Centre; the report is made by the victim, and we prepare the timeline and screenshots. If a fake profile publishes someone’s personal data to harass them, the PCPD doxxing route can apply, and we prepare that free complaint with written authorisation.
How NetClearer handles it
- Free written assessment of the profiles, pages and posts, with a fixed quotation.
- Reports to LinkedIn under impersonation, fake account or scam rules, with the proof LinkedIn requests.
- Escalation through LinkedIn support for profiles that survive the first review.
- Copies elsewhere: the same fake identity often appears on Facebook or Instagram, and in Google results for your name; each copy is reported.
- Monthly plans from HK$696 for firms that see new fake recruiters every month.
Discretion and limits
We never log into your LinkedIn account or your company page and never contact the fake account. We do not remove genuine profiles, honest posts about an employer or public-interest reporting. NetClearer is not a law firm: for trademark litigation or a court order, consult a Hong Kong solicitor.
Frequently asked questions
Can you act for our company rather than for one employee?
Yes. A company can authorise us to report fake recruiters, copied pages and fake executive profiles in its name. We need a signed authorisation from a director or HR lead and, where possible, a company email contact that LinkedIn can verify.
The fake profile copies me but uses a slightly different name. Does it count?
Usually yes. LinkedIn looks at the overall impression: your photo, job history, employer and connections. A small spelling change does not prevent an impersonation report if the profile is built to be taken for you. We show the similarities side by side.
How quickly does LinkedIn remove fake profiles?
LinkedIn sets its own timing and no Hong Kong rule imposes a deadline. Some fake profiles disappear within days; others need a support ticket. Work starts within 48 hours of payment and we follow up each report until LinkedIn decides.
Several fake recruiters use our name. What would it cost?
Each profile, page or job post is one link. Three cost HK$608, ten HK$1,753 with a removal report. If new ones keep appearing, the monthly plans from HK$696 are usually cheaper than ordering link by link. All prices are fixed, with no extra fees.
